Fire In Moscow Factory Claims 12 Lives

Fire in RussiaKABUL: (MEP) At least 12 people have lost their lives after a huge fire erupted at the sewing factory in the eastern part of the Russian capital, Moscow, emergency officials reported.

The blaze occurred overnight into Sunday was put out at about 0:55 local time (21:55 GMT, Saturday) in Sokolniki district.

Earlier reports put the number of victims at nine as the victims believed to be migrant workers.

Earlier in the day, Russia’s Investigative Committee spokeswoman Yulia Ivanova told RIA Novosti the Committee opened an investigation into the fire, adding that they were working out different theories of the fire outbreak, including arson.

The fire destroyed or damaged 3,000 square meters of a building on Stromynka Street in the city’s eastern Sokolniki district.

Meanwhile, Pavel Astakhov, Russian children’s rights ombudsman, said on his Twitter account that three children were among the dead.
